Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi is ready to play for the Blues again if required, despite being frozen out of Enzo Maresca’s immediate first-team plans, according to the BBC.

Disasi joined the Blues from Monaco in 2023 for £38.5 million, but has been training away from the core squad and is part of the so-called bomb squad at Cobham.

Chelsea explored selling or loaning the 27-year-old during the summer, with West Ham United and Bournemouth showing interest, but no move materialised.

Turkish side, Besiktas, are now monitoring his situation, with their transfer window still open.

For now, Disasi remains at Stamford Bridge and has made clear he will remain professional and committed.

He is willing to play for the club if called upon, even as he works separately from Maresca’s primary group.

With injuries to Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile leaving Chelsea short at the back, he could be a helpful option for Maresca to have if they are further depleted.

Disasi made 61 appearances for the Blues and was a regular under Mauricio Pochettino.

He also featured at the start of Maresca’s reign before losing his place and spending a six-month loan spell at Aston Villa, who opted not to pursue a permanent deal.

While Monaco, West Ham and even Saudi clubs explored moves, nothing progressed, leaving Chelsea with a decision to make.

The Frenchman can look uneasy defending space and has been inconsistent with positioning.

However, with his experience and versatility, he could provide Maresca with an extra option in central defence.

Chelsea are currently pressing ahead with Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The West Londoners are also developing youngsters Josh Acheampong, Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino.

Whether Disasi forces his way back into contention or departs before the Turkish deadline closes remains to be seen. For now, he is ready to play if Chelsea call.
