Djibril Cissé has rejected renewed insinuations that Queens Park Rangers eased up in Manchester City’s 2012 title decider, calling the talk nonsense in a post on X.

On the final day of 2011-12, Sergio Agüero struck in stoppage time as City beat QPR 3-2 to snatch the title from Manchester United. Cissé, leading the line for QPR, had levelled at 1-1 early in the second half.

With City accused of 114 financial breaches from 2009 to 2018 and awaiting resolution, episodes from that era are being pored over again. Mike Dean, who refereed the match, has questioned why QPR returned the ball once they knew they were safe, saying he still cannot understand it.

Cissé dismissed any suggestion of impropriety, insisting he would not accept those claims and urging a proper meeting to discuss what happened.
