Guadalajara’s 3–0 victory over Santos on Matchday 11 of the Clausura 2026 had a truly spectacular finish. The perfect closing moment to a match in which the Rebaño Sagrado delivered a strong performance came courtesy of Ricardo Marín.
Fans witnessed another great backheel goal in Chivas history, struck with the left foot of “4K,” which brought every Chivahermano to their feet. Using this exquisite finish as an excuse, it’s worth revisiting other players who have scored goals of this kind while wearing the Rojiblanca jersey.
The most recent one before Marín’s was—also by him. On Matchday 13 of the Apertura 2024 against Club Necaxa, he scored almost the exact same goal as the one against the Guerreros: making a near-post run and finishing with his left foot toward the far post.
Before “4K,” Ángel Zaldívar did it in the Clásico Tapatío on Matchday 16 of the Clausura 2021, with a backheel that secured victory for the Rebaño over its city rival, Atlas. That same tournament also saw José Juan Macías score a similar goal in a 2–2 draw against Querétaro F.C. on Matchday 9.
Demetrio Madero is another Rojiblanco who once scored a goal like this. In Matchday 11 of the 1986–87 season, he netted the winner in a 1–0 victory over Atlético Potosino.
Going even further back in time, you’ll find the gem scored by 'Willy' Gómez, which came in the second round of the 1973–74 Copa México when Chivas defeated Atlético Español 4–0 at Estadio Azteca.
These kinds of goals have also appeared for Chivas on the international stage. In the quarterfinals of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, Jesús Godínez used a backheel finish to complete a 3–0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC.
