Doekhi signs for Lazio on free transfer to June 2029

Lazio have signed Danilho Doekhi on a free transfer, agreeing a deal to June 2029. The club confirmed the move after his Union Berlin contract expired.

The 28-year-old arrived in Rome yesterday for medical tests before signing at the Stadio Olimpico.

A central defender, he previously played for Ajax and Vitesse, then joined Union Berlin in the summer of 2022.

He has a Serie A link as the nephew of former Milan player Winston Bogarde.

Doekhi goes into a squad now coached by Gennaro Gattuso and becomes Lazio’s second free signing of the summer after Alfonso Pedraza.

New centre-backs were needed after Mario Gila was sold to Milan, while Alessio Romagnoli is heading to Al-Sadd, a move still not completed weeks after an agreement between the clubs.
