Enzo Maresca says Jérémy Doku is not fit to face Bournemouth this Sunday.
The Belgian winger played the first half of last week’s Community Shield but is not ready for our Premier League opener.
However, there is positive news about Matheus Nunes, who is available for selection after missing the curtain raiser at the Principality Stadium due to an injury sustained while warming up.
“At the moment, the only one [unavailable] is Jeremy Doku,” said Maresca in a press conference with assembled media on Friday.
“Then Matheus [Nunes] is back. Jérémy , but the rest are all okay.”
The manager then went into more detail about Doku, stating the No.11 has an issue in his calf.
“Unfortunately in the last game at half-time he was complaining about a calf pain.
“Idea was that he would come off, the change was planned and at the moment, [he’s out for] 2-3 weeks, no more than that.”
The 14:00 (UK) kick-off represents the start of a new era for City as Maresca takes charge of us for the first time in the Premier League.
With a bumper crowd expected on a sunny day at the Etihad Stadium, we’ll be hoping to make a strong start to the new campaign.
To do so, we’ll have to overcome a strong Cherries side.
They enjoyed their best ever league campaign in 2025/26, finishing sixth in the Premier League and earning Europa League football.

They’ve since switched managers, with Marco Rose replacing the Liverpool-bound Andoni Iraola.
Our Italian boss is well aware of the threats our visitors pose.
“I watched their pre-season games and watched some games from last season when he [Rose] was at another club,” said Maresca.
“Clear identity, aggressive already were with Andoni [Iraola] and still are aggressive. Clear what they do on and off the ball.”
General admission tickets for Manchester City’s home 2026/27 Premier League fixtures are now on sale to Premium, Matchday and Junior Members.
Season Ticket Members, meanwhile, are now also able to purchase additional tickets for selected games.
Premier League match-by-match ticket prices for junior and adult Matchday Members have been retained at the same rate for a third consecutive season.
It promises to be another thrilling campaign for the Blues as we enter a new era under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, who takes over from Pep Guardiola in the hotseat.
Make sure you secure your spot at the Etihad Stadium for our Premier League fixtures now!
