The City winger produced a fine all-round performance as Belgium stepped up their preparations for this summer’s 2026 World Cup finals in impressive fashion.

Ironically though it was the hosts who had struck first, with the USA opening the scoring on 39 minutes through Juventus midfielder Winston McKennie thanks to a crisp right footed finish from close range.

However, after that it all about the visitors.

Belgium hit back to drawl level just before the break thanks to a spectacular effort from Zeno Debast.

Doku had sought to summon up a response with American keeper Matt Turner doing well to block the winger’s right footed effort.

However, Debast did subsequently find the target, firing home with a stunning 30-yard effort.

Belgium upped the attacking ante after the break and were rewarded again as they took a 53rd minute lead thanks to Amadou Onana, the Aston Villa man beating the American defence with a crisp right footed strike.

Belgium then further extended their advantage just before the hour after Charles De Ketelaere converted from the penalty spot after a VAR check upheld a handball by Tim Ream.

Things got even better for Rudi Garcia’s side on 68 minutes with Dodi Lukébakio made it 4-1 after despatching a neat left footed finish from the right edge of the box.

Doku then made way for Ajax’s Mika Godts after a fine afternoon’s work at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium before Lukébakio was on target again on 83 minutes with the Benfica star notching up his second and Belgium’s fifth goal.

The United States did gain a late morsel of consolation thanks to an injury time effort from Patrick Agyemang but it couldn’t deflect from a impressive Belgian performance.
