Domenico Tedesco has been full of praise for his new first choice goalkeeper. The 31-year-old Wolfsburg shot stopper Koen Casteels has replaced Thibaut Courtois as the starting keeper for the Red Devils after the Real Madrid keeper had a falling out with the new Belgian head coach. While Courtois is widely regarded as one of, if not the, best keeper in the world, Tedesco believes that Casteels should be highly regarded. As reported by HLN, Tedesco believes that the experienced Wolfsburg goalkeeper is in the top 20 worlds best goalkeepers.
Given the quality of Courtois, Casteels has been limited to just six caps for Belgium. The former Genk youth player has spent the majority of his career in Germany, playing for TSG Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg. At the latter, he has made an impressive 252 appearances. Casteels kept a clean sheet during Belgium’s recent 1-0 away win against Azerbaijan.
