Grateful Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin says he is enjoying football again after a 95th-minute winner against Brighton capped a standout first season at Elland Road.

The 29-year-old seized on a short Jan Paul van Hecke back-pass, rounded Bart Verbruggen and rolled home. It was his 14th Premier League goal, his best return since 2020/21 and the second-highest of his career. "That's the life of a striker," he told Match of the Day.

"I've loved it [this season]. It's been so enjoyable. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity here and to be able to enjoy my football again. I’m at my best when I’m enjoying what I do.”

Leeds created little else but Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon and Sebastiaan Bornauw stood firm, with Karl Darlow sharp when called upon.

Leeds visit West Ham on Sunday, with their hosts either already relegated or needing snookers to survive. Calvert-Lewin, who made the previous England group, is among three or four potential back-ups to Harry Kane before Thomas Tuchel names his World Cup squad. He is now the joint-highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League alongside Ollie Watkins and Morgan Gibbs-White, has three in his last three and said: “Let's see. It's going to be busy anyway, I've got a two-and-a-half-year-old.”
