Dominic Calvert-Lewin will learn on Friday 22 May whether he is in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad, the federation announced, and the Leeds United striker has two club games left to press his claim.

Calvert-Lewin’s strong Leeds form earned a recall in March. He made his first Three Lions appearance since 2021 as a second-half substitute in the Wembley friendly against Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay.

He then left the camp before the month’s second friendly against Japan as Tuchel reduced numbers. England went on to lose 1-0 to Japan, their final warm-up before the squad is confirmed.

Tuchel will select 26 players for a tournament staged in Canada, Mexico and USA between 11 June and 19 July, and he will discuss his choices in a live show from Wembley.

England will hold a Florida camp in early June, facing New Zealand on Saturday 6 June at 9pm BST and Costa Rica on Wednesday 10 June at 9pm BST.

The group campaign begins against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday 17 June at 9pm BST, then Ghana in Boston on Tuesday 23 June at 9pm BST, before Panama in New Jersey on Saturday 27 June at 10pm BST.

Calvert-Lewin’s remaining auditions come at Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night, then at home to Brighton the following Sunday.
