Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness and form at Leeds United have turned heads, with the striker injury-free and old team-mate Jarrad Branthwaite reaching out after his resurgence.
According to Leedsunited.news, constant knee, hamstring and toe problems punctuated his Everton spell, despite 58 of 76 league games across his final two seasons, after only 34 in the two before that. A prolific campaign under Carlo Ancelotti brought 16 Premier League goals in 2021-22.
To address those setbacks he visited the MYOS clinic in Munich, following the path taken by Manuel Neuer and David Alaba. The centre emphasises a holistic approach, examining lifestyle as well as specific injuries to build robustness.
Since joining Leeds he has remained injury-free under Daniel Farke, aside from the odd minor tweak, and looks close to his best. He has 19 goals in 45 appearances for the club, with four already this season, and is back in the England fold.
Branthwaite said Calvert-Lewin’s revival prompted him to reconnect and to book his own trip to MYOS. He consulted the striker beforehand about how it works, heard only positive feedback, and felt encouraged by how highly Calvert-Lewin rates the clinic.
Leeds’ shrewd work last summer included recruiting players with prior injury records, which kept fees manageable for Calvert-Lewin, James Justin and others. Justin previously suffered an ACL injury, while Noah Okafor endured repeated muscle issues. The club’s medical staff have kept that group fit, a platform that has benefited Calvert-Lewin.
