Leeds United could revisit Dominik Livakovic in January after Girona’s manager admitted the goalkeeper now wants to leave.
AS Marca reported that Leeds lodged a £6m bid in July as Livakovic looked to depart Fenerbahce. That move did not happen, he instead joined Girona on loan, while Leeds brought in Lucas Perri.
Livakovic has not played in La Liga, sitting behind Paulo Gazzaniga, and is seeking an exit to prioritise the World Cup. Michel said the Croatian wants out, does not wish to play for Girona, and is prioritising the tournament, adding he was very angry and even used Gazzaniga while unwell.
The expectation is that the 30-year-old could be sent back to Fenerbahce, though having also fallen out of favour in Türkiye, a move elsewhere feels possible. He featured twice for Fenerbahce before leaving and has not appeared for Girona, so he remains eligible to play for Leeds this season if a January deal is agreed.
Leeds are likely to back Perri as No.1, but there is uncertainty behind him. Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier are out of contract in July, keeping Meslier would be a risk after last season, and Darlow will be 36 next term. Livakovic might be considered to bolster depth and sharpen competition.
