FC Bayern are set to make another personnel decision shortly before the end of the transfer window. Bryan Zaragoza is set to leave the record champions once again – this time for Italy. The Munich club have agreed a loan deal with AS Roma with the clear prospect of a permanent transfer
As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported late on Sunday evening, a full agreement has been reached between FC Bayern and AS Roma. Zaragoza is set to play in Serie A until the end of the current season. Part of the deal is a purchase option, which could even become an obligation to buy under certain circumstances. This suggests that the Zaragoza chapter in Munich could finally come to a close
According to Corriere della Sera, the potential transfer fee is around 13 million euros. Transfer insider Gianluca di Marzio adds that the purchase option will become a binding clause if Zaragoza makes a certain number of appearances and AS Roma qualify for the Champions League. The Romans are currently fourth in Serie A and have a good chance of securing a place in the top flight
For Celta Vigo, where Zaragoza has played on loan since last summer, the move means an early departure. According to media reports, the Spanish club will receive a compensation payment, the amount of which has not yet been made public. The 24-year-old has made 26 appearances in La Liga this season and has been directly involved in six goals

It is hardly surprising that FC Bayern are prepared to let Zaragoza go again. The attacking player moved to Munich two years ago for around €17 million, but was never able to establish himself at the German record champions. The first loan back to Spain followed after just six months – a clear signal that his sporting prospects in Munich were limited
Despite a contract until 2029, Zaragoza no longer played a role in Bayern’s plans. By moving to Italy, the Spaniard could now make a fresh start at a top European club and establish himself permanently at the highest level. For Munich, in turn, the deal is an opportunity to at least partially offset the financial impact of a transfer from the past
Even if the transfer is formally declared as a loan, there are many indications that it is a farewell solution. The purchase option – or possible purchase obligation – shows that both clubs are assuming a long-term perspective in Rome. For FC Bayern, it is another example of how consistently they are streamlining the squad and making clear decisions
If the agreed conditions are met, Zaragoza’s time at the German record champions would be over for good. A transfer that is quietly taking place – but is emblematic of a personnel situation that has never really come together in Munich.
