According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Inter have agreed to sign Akanji on an initial loan deal at a cost of €2m. They will also have an option to buy for €15m, which will become an obligation to buy under certain ‘difficult’ conditions.

Further updates suggest that Inter will be obliged to buy Akanji outright if they win the Scudetto this season, and if the Swiss players in at least 50% of the team’s matches in this campaign.

The arrival of Akanji could potentially lead to the departure of Benjamin Pavard, who is reportedly of interest to Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique de Marseille.

Akanji, meanwhile, has given his approval to the Inter move, which means that the Nerazzurri have agreement with both the player and club. He is now all set for a medical.

If, or rather when the deal is completed, Akanji will become Cristian Chivu’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window following the previous arrivals of Ange-Yoan Bonny, Luis Henrique, Petar Sucic and Andy Diouf.
