Gianluigi Donnarumma has joined Man City from PSG after Ederson sealed his exit in the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper has signed for a reported fee of around €30 million (£25.9m) and will be competing with James Trafford and Stefan Ortega for the starting role in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Donnarumma arrives in Eastlands after failing to agree a new contract with PSG, which was due to expire next summer. He has reportedly signed a five-year deal with Man City and will wear the number 99 on his shirt.

Despite playing a key role in last season’s maiden UEFA Champions League win, Paris manager Luis Enrique decided to offload the 26-year-old after the club signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, omitting the Italian from the UEFA Super Cup win over Spurs last month.

Donnarumma becomes Man City’s seventh and final summer signing, taking their total spend to £185.8 million.

The transfer follows Ederson’s move to Fenerbahce for around £12.1 million. “I leave incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and I am honoured to have worn the shirt so many times,” the Brazilian said.

“Under (head coach) Pep, we have dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe. It has been amazing.”

The two transfers represent a huge summer of change in City’s goalkeeping department, having signed Trafford from Burnley for £31 million earlier in the window, a British record fee for a goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Manuel Akanji has joined Inter Milan on loan with an obligation to buy. Sky Italia report that the loan fee is £900k (€1m) and the obligation is £13 million (€15m).
