Thomas Frank says Cristian Romero has not been fined over his critical social media post but has warned him he must not make the same mistake again.
The Spurs captain posted on Instagram after the defeat to Bournemouth and criticised others at the club for not fronting up to Tottenham’s issues.
“At times like this, it should be other people coming out to speak… but they don’t, as has been happening for several years now,” he said. “They only show up when things are going well to tell a few lies.”
Frank revealed that he and sporting director Johan Lange have spoken to Romero about his conduct but confirmed he has not been punished.
“He’s our captain, he’s not been fined,” Frank said.
“It’s an internal thing, but we haven’t done that.
“I think there’s a lot of ways to deal with different situations. We’ve chosen to have a good conversation with him, understand where he stands, handle it internally, and that’s everything I have to say.”
Expanding on his decision, Frank insists players can make mistakes but must not repeat them.
“You can make a mistake, don’t make the same mistake twice,” he said.
