It’s no secret that Liverpool have got their eyes on Yan Diomande ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old RB Leipzig standout has enjoyed a stunning maiden campaign in the Bundesliga. Despite arriving on an £18m deal from Leganes only last summer it has been suggested that the Ivory Coast forward will be on the move in 2026.
Leipzig have contracted the wide forward until 2030 - putting the club in total control over his immediate transfer destiny - and a fee of €100m might be required to get the deal over the line.
Diomande has expressed a preference for an Anfield move and no doubt he would fit the requirement for Arne Slot and Richard Hughes in the upcoming transfer period.
A one-v-one specialist with creativity and a goal threat Diomande ticks all the boxes for the Premier League champions as they move towards a post-Mohamed Salah future.
But one complicating factor could be Paris Saint-Germain. The French aristocrats have beaten Liverpool to the transfer punch on numerous occasions in recent windows for the likes of Joao Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.
And according to Foot Parisien PSG sporting director Luis Campos is now quite taken by the idea of signing Diomande.
“Having arrived at RB Leipzig last summer, Yan Diomandé has established himself as a key player for his team,” the report reads.
“At just 19 years old, he has already racked up 13 goals and nine assists in all competitions.
“Luis Campos has therefore taken a shine to the Ivorian winger, valued at €100 million by his club.”
PSG of course have an abundance of forward talent - including Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Doue and Kvara. In order to sign Diomande one of those would have to leave.
"To secure his services, PSG will have to make a significant financial sacrifice,” the report reads. And - in that context - a PSG deal for Diomande could push Barcola ever closer to a move to Liverpool.
Reds’ recruiters love the 23-year-old as revealed by Anfield Watch - who is embroiled in a contract standoff with his employers at present. If no new deal is signed then it wouldn’t be a shock to see Barcola sold this summer.
“Bradley Barcola remains the PSG player most likely to leave the French capital this summer,” the report reads.
“The former Lyon player is under contract with the Parisian club until June 2028.”
Liverpool will be right there for his signature - not a bad consolation prize if they miss out on Diomande. Barcola has been frequently linked with a move to the Premier League champions and cannot be guaranteed a starting spot under Luis Enrique.
