Doria on Marcelo Bielsa: “He didn’t play me to prove to the president he didn’t need me.”

Speaking in an interview with SoyFutbol, 26-year-old Brazilian central defender Doria, signed by Ligue 1 side Marseille for €8m in the summer of 2014, reflected on his time at OM under the orders of Marcelo Bielsa.

“I arrived on the last day of the transfer window. Bielsa was not counting on me, and he got annoyed with the president (Vincent Labrune) because the board signed me without speaking to him. I was in the middle of a fight between the two of them. Bielsa didn’t play me to prove to the president that he didn’t need me.”
