Dorival Júnior has said goodbye to Corinthians in a social media video, a day after the club announced his dismissal.
According to Globo.com, he thanked staff and supporters and reflected on almost a year in charge.
He said he offered to leave in December, soon after winning the Copa do Brasil, as Marcelo Paz arrived to replace Fabinho Soldado. Near Christmas he called president Osmar Stabile to suggest an amicable exit, noting he had not been hired by the new leadership. Stabile kept him in post until the end of his mandate.
Appointed in late April last year, he departs with two trophies, the 2025 Copa do Brasil and the Supercopa do Brasil in early February 2026.
He pushed for reinforcements and to retain talents, including André, who drew an offer from Milan. With four competitions ahead, he wanted a deeper squad, pointing out 11 departures and only seven arrivals.
He highlighted the rise of academy prospects as his key legacy and told the board that, if sold at the right moment, they could become the club’s biggest recent sales.
Results drove the decision, with nine matches without a win, seven in the Brasileirão. Dorival said he understands the spell but remains confident the squad can still achieve strong results this year, offering thanks to Stabile, colleagues and the fans.
