Corinthians drew 1-1 with Santos in the first Clássico Alvinegro of the 2026 Brasileirão, leaving Dorival Júnior on five games without a win, which equals his longest run at the club set between May and July 2025.
That earlier sequence started with a 0-0 draw against Atlético Mineiro on 24 May, then a 1-0 defeat to Huracán's reserves in the Copa Sul-Americana three days later ended Corinthians' participation in the tournament.
It was followed by 0-0 against Vitória and 1-1 with Grêmio, then a 2-1 loss to Bragantino. The drought ended on 16 July with a 1-0 victory over Ceará at Castelão, Talles Magno scoring.
The current five-game run comprises draws with Portuguesa, Cruzeiro and, on Sunday, Santos, plus defeats to Novorizontino and Coritiba. Corinthians last won on 19 February, beating Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in the third round of the Brasileirão.
Dorival has a 52% points return in charge, with 25 wins, 17 draws and 17 defeats from 59 matches.
He has the chance to avoid breaking that negative record on Thursday at 21:30, when Corinthians visit Chapecoense at Arena Condá in Santa Catarina in the sixth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
