Sky Germany reports that, on Thursday 30 July, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Ole Book identified Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Elias Baum as a potential option if Yan Couto leaves.

He is said to have raised Baum’s name during an internal meeting.

Book, 40, knows Baum well from his time at SV Elversberg, where the Frankfurt native spent 2024-25 on loan.

Elversberg narrowly missed promotion that season, and Baum contributed 11 goal involvements.

Baum is regarded as versatile, able to play at left-back and right-back.

Frankfurt are generally not keen to let him go, with new coach Adi Hütter said to be a big fan of the U-21 international.
