Borussia Dortmund confirmed on Monday that Chelsea had exercised a recall option to end 20-year-old Aarón Anselmino’s loan early.

Bild claims the decision has left Dortmund furious with Chelsea, adding there were no signals in recent weeks that the move was imminent.

WAZ and Ruhr Nachrichten report Dortmund are not planning to bring in a replacement this window.

The squad already includes central defenders Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Ramy Bensebaini, Emre Can, Niklas Süle and Filippo Mané.

A loan for Mané, 20, had been considered, but a winter exit now appears unlikely given the current situation.
