After a spate of controversial internal discussions, Borussia Dortmund have decided that a return for Jason Sancho is out of the question as BILD understands.

Lars Ricken, Ole Book, Carsten Cramer, Hans-Joachim Watzke and adviser Matthias Sammer, regularly debated making a possible third signing of Sancho this summer.

Their reasons for rejecting the Englishman are clear: the era of romantic transfers and bringing back former stars like Mario Götze and Nuri Sahin is to end once and for all.

The shocking situation surrounding Konstantinos Karetsas' circulation problems further fueled the debate, but there is now some initial relief.

Dortmund wants to write a new chapter under its new sporting leadership. The task at hand – to find the stars of tomorrow and build up new names.

Bringing Sancho back simply to win over the fans and boost shirt sales is considered ‘too cheap’ by the club’s decision-makers who don't want to repeat other errors.

Another factor working against Sancho is his fitness – how many months of training would he really need to perhaps become a serious improvement? It’s completely unclear.

It’s possible that by then even Giannis Konstantelias (cruciate ligament tear), who has been out with a long-term injury, will be fit to play again.
