Dortmund star "disappointed" by Germany squad snub, says Kovac | OneFootball

Having represented Germany at the World Cup under Julian Nagelsmann, Maximilian Beier was left out of Jürgen Klopp's 44-man squad, which was announced on Thursday.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of Borussia Dortmund's upcoming Bundesliga clash with VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, head coach Niko Kovac revealed how Beier has reacted to the decision.

“Maxi is naturally a little downhearted and disappointed. I know that Maxi will work hard to prove himself. He is a brilliant player,” Kovac said.

Meanwhile, Beier's Borussia Dortmund teammates Nico Schlotterbeck (26), Felix Nmecha (25) and Waldemar Anton (30) all made the squad.

“I was in contact with Jürgen Klopp. I already knew two or three days in advance who would be in the squad and who wouldn’t. The three who are in the squad are absolutely delighted,” Kovac added.
