According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund are considering withdrawing from the pursuit of Kennet Eichhorn, with signing bonus demands that could push the total package to around €20 million.

The 16-year-old Hertha BSC prospect has long been tracked by leading clubs in Germany and abroad.

While a €10-12 million release clause had been reported, Bundesliga sides would only need to pay a maximum of about €9 million to trigger it, with a slightly lower figure for German clubs outside the Champions League.

The overall cost is put at roughly €20 million because the player’s camp is seeking a signing bonus of around €10 million. With his market value estimated near €20 million, they are said to view the package as in line with market rates.

Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are not deterred by the overall package and remain interested in the teenager.

Any Premier League move would be complicated by post-Brexit rules, as Eichhorn cannot play in England until 18, so an immediate loan outside England would be the most likely outcome.
