Borussia Dortmund are looking to extend 18-year-old Luca Reggiani’s contract, according to FußballTransfers.com. The Italian centre-half has impressed in recent weeks.

BILD claims the defender has already been offered a new deal running to at least 2030.

Amid an injury crisis in defence, he has slotted into Niko Kovač’s three-man back line. Strong showings against Mainz 4-0, Atalanta 2-0 and RB Leipzig 2-2 may have earned him a reward.

Reggiani captains Dortmund’s U-19s and Italy’s U-17s, and his rise is viewed as a pathway example for academy talents. His current deal runs until 2027. Dortmund are seeking to return to their roots of uncovering hidden gems.

Teenagers Samuele Inácio, 17, and Mathis Albert, 16, have made Kovač’s bench in recent weeks. Managing director of sport Lars Ricken is aiming to cement Reggiani’s first-team role by securing a longer commitment. There is less urgency with Inácio and Albert, whose youth contracts include extensions that keep them beyond 2027.
