DR Congo

Who will finish tonight at the top of Group B in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup: Senegal or DR Congo? Here are the scenarios that could see the Leopards qualify.

Chasing a World Cup berth for the first time since their lone appearance in 1974, DR Congo currently sits second in Group B ahead of the final matchday. The Leopards are two points behind group leaders Senegal.

However, if DRC beats Sudan at home and Senegal loses at home to Mauritania, the Leopards would qualify for the 2026 World Cup. There's also a chance if Senegal draws, but in that case, DR Congo would need a convincing win to overturn a significant goal difference deficit (+15 for the Lions, +8 for the Leopards).

If they beat Sudan, DR Congo will be guaranteed a place among the top four group runners-up and thus a spot in the African playoffs. But the Leopards could also crash out as early as Tuesday. That would be the case if they fail to defeat Sudan. Even with a draw, the Leopards would finish second but remain outside the top four best runners-up across all groups.
