Tuesday was a momentous night for Lionel Messi as he became only the third men’s player in history to reach 100 international goals in Argentina’s victory over Curaçao.
And one lucky fan received a special memento of the night he will cherish forever.
Curaçao goalkeeper Eloy Room was the proud recipient of Messi’s match-worn shirt, and he was absolutely beaming about it in a post-match interview with TyC Sports.
“It’s unbelievable, a dream come true. Everybody is a fan of Messi. Now I’ve played against him,” said the goalkeeper, who plays his club football for Columbus Crew in MLS.
“It was a tough game, he scored some goals against me but I also saved some good shots from him. After that he told me that, too – that I made some good saves – so that means a lot to me.”
We have never seen a goalkeeper be so happy to concede seven goals before!
