A dream midfielder has opened the door to join Liverpool following the latest reports.
Richard Hughes will be focusing on the midfield in the summer window but a lot of the new arrivals will hinge on how the Reds finish the season.
Right now, Champions League football next season is under serious threat. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are in a much better position than the Reds.
Where Liverpool finish and whether they can secure European football will determine the kind of players the club can attract.
Anfield Watch understands Liverpool have an impressive midfield shortlist that included the likes of Warren Zaire-Emery, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Kees Smit, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton.
But there's another elite midfielder who could be added to the club's shortlist after the door has opened for him to make a move this summer.
Liverpool need someone with a lot of intensity, who is great technically and is also excellent at winning the ball back regularly.
One of the best young midfielders in Europe right now when it comes to pressing is Senny Mayulu.
He is 19-years-old, has already scored in the Champions League final and has a lot of experience playing for Paris Saint Germain, despite his tender age.
However, now the door has opened for him to join Liverpool with Mayulu facing an uncertain future in Paris.
According to Le Parisien, Mayulu has rejected three contract offers from PSG and he is now at a 'point of no return.'
That can only mean one thing - he's going to be available in the market, and what a signing he could become for Liverpool.
This is the golden opportunity the Reds have been dreaming about.
A young midfielder of Mayulu's pedigree is exactly the kind of player who could revive and give Liverpool's midfield a new lease of life.
Mayulu is the dream target as well because of the amount of ground that he covers and how strong he is in his duels. This season he has won just under 70% of his 6.74 defensive duels playing a total of over 2000 minutes for PSG.
In the process, Mayulu also notched up nine goal contributions, which is an impressive feat for the young midfielder who definitely knows how to arrive in the box.
The door has clearly opened for him to explore another move and with Liverpool's strong French contingent with Hugo Ekitike and Ibrahima Konate, Mayulu might just be enticed by the prospect of joining the Reds.
Liverpool will be able to offer him more playing time while he continues to develop in the best league in Europe.
Not to mention knowing how much Arne Slot admires PSG, he'd also be surely very excited by the club signing a player from the French giants.
It's a dream scenario for Liverpool, and it's one that would not be a surprise to see Richard Hughes exploit.
