A São Paulo court has ordered Dudu to pay R$ 50,000 to Palmeiras president Leila Pereira for moral damages, after she sued following his January 2025 departure.

According to Globo.com, Pereira sought R$ 500,000 and a requirement for Dudu to post the ruling, citing a social media insult in which he wrote "me esquece VTNC" during his move to Cruzeiro.

The player filed a countersuit for the same sum, arguing her remarks damaged his reputation after she accused him of machismo. Judge Sérgio Serrano Nunes Filho of São Paulo’s 11th Civil Court said the posts overstepped free expression and became personal offences.

He rejected the defence’s reading of the initials as a benign reference to working at Cruzeiro, noting that insults attract legal consequences. The court also dismissed Dudu’s countersuit and did not confirm misogyny in his conduct. When enforced, Pereira will donate the award to a women’s support organisation.

Friction surfaced in 2024, when Cruzeiro announced a pre-agreement that he later abandoned, before he rescinded his Palmeiras contract at year end. Pereira criticised him, he replied on social media, and sports judges handed him a six-game ban and a R$ 90,000 fine. He now plays for Atlético-MG.
