Duje Caleta Car has left OL after terminating his contract by mutual consent to join Sassuolo as a free agent. The Italian club confirmed his arrival on Monday.
The Croat had one year remaining on his Lyon deal. His departure reduces OL’s wage bill, with his salary at 250,000 euros a month.
Caleta Car, 29, arrived at OL in 2023 and was signed permanently in 2024. He spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, making 27 appearances.
He has not featured under Paulo Fonseca since the start of the 2026-27 campaign. He leaves Lyon after 57 games, with one goal and one assist.
A Croatia international with 38 caps and one goal, he was selected for the last World Cup. At Sassuolo he will link up again with former team-mate Nemanja Matic, the Neroverdi captain.
