Since taking over from Tony Docherty in the summer, the ex-Celtic defender has faced a challenging start to life at Dundee, who currently sit 11th in the Scottish Premiership table.

However, the former Carlisle and Pafos manager is still confident in his team’s chances of upsetting the Scottish champions, believing they can get a result if they perform to their potential which so far has not happened under his stewardship.

Dundee have taken six points from eight matches so far, including a 1-1 draw at Ibrox back in August which could have been three points had it not been for a late controversial penalty to theRangers.

Pressley’s only win in the league came late on against Livingston last month, and since then it has been back-to-back defeats to St Mirren and then a thumping 4-0 loss to Aberdeen at Pittodrie just prior to the international break.

Speaking via Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s game, the Dundee boss said: “I’m very much aware of the challenge. Dundee haven’t won at Dens against Celtic in 37 years, so I think that brings some context to the challenge, but it’s one that myself and the players are certainly looking forward to.”

We believe that with the right preparation, with the right attitude and mindset, we can certainly get some form of result.

“We have to be that team that’s very competitive, very difficult to beat, that stays in games, and hopefully, if we do that to good effect against Celtic, we can get a positive result.”

Sunday’s kick-off at Dens is at 12pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports. With seven massive games before the next international break in November, Celtic need to start racking up consistent results both in the Premiership and Europa League.
