The Dark Blues beat the Scottish champions 2–0 when the sides last met at Dens Park in October, a match that ended up being Brendan Rodgers’ penultimate league outing as Celtic manager.
However, Pressley argues that earning a victory in Glasgow this evening – in Martin O’Neill’s final match as interim boss – will be as tough a challenge they will face all season, especially since Dundee’s last success at Celtic Park came back in May 2001.
That famous 2–0 win, achieved nearly 25 years ago, came thanks to two goals from the late Fabian Caballero and arrived soon after O’Neill – then in the early part of his glittering Celtic tenure – had wrapped up the first of his three league championships with the Hoops.

Speaking via The Courier, Pressley said: “I said prior to the last Celtic game that we needed a near-perfect performance. Well, you need a near-perfect performance, plus you need an element of luck to go and win at Celtic Park.”
“It’s been 25 years nearly since we’ve won there. And it’s 1988-89 since Dundee recorded two wins against Celtic in the one season. So I think when you begin to look at statistics, it shows the enormity of the task.”

“But it’s not beyond us, we’ll certainly go there trying to win the game. Another interesting statistic is the last time Dundee won there, Martin O’Neill was the manager and Shaun Maloney was on the bench, so you just never know.”
As reported, O’Neill will take charge of his final Celtic game tonight. Wilfried Nancy is expected to take training tomorrow morning and be officially unveiled at Celtic Park pending an announcement from the club channels.
