Ajax have confirmed that forward Dušan Tadić has left the club by mutual consent.
The Serbia international won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups during his five years in Amsterdam.
But Tadić reached an agreement with his current employers on Friday to terminate his contract a year ahead of its expiry.
“The decision to leave the club has been a very difficult one,” said Tadić.
“However, I think now is the right time, I feel that it is not only for me but also the best for the club.
“The time I’ve had at Ajax and the successes I’ve been able to experience are indescribable feelings that I’ve never experienced before in my career.
“I want to thank all the fans for the fantastic time I’ve had here
“As far as I’m concerned, this is not a final farewell, I will always remain an Ajax player and hope to return to Amsterdam in a different role in the near future, as a coach.”
Tadić joined Ajax in summer 2018 from Southampton for a reported €11.4m.
