Barcelona triumphed in the Spanish Super Cup final over Real Madrid on Sunday night in emphatic fashion, owing Carlo Ancelotti’s side across the field.
In midfield, it was Pedri, Gavi and Marc Casado who did the damage for the Blaugrana with Dani Olmo also coming off the bench for a bright cameo.
Notably, however, Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong played no part on the night and even hesitated in celebrating the team’s win after the result.
All signs around his future are thus pessimistic and a departure looks more likely than ever before.
Speaking to the media via SPORT in a recent interaction, former Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit expressed his disappointment over the situation of Frenkie de Jong at Barcelona and called for his departure at the earliest.
“I hope he finds a solution. I hope he gets a club that suits him so that he can leave Barça. It’s time to look for something else.”

The legend then gave his opinion on which club would be the best for the Dutchman to move to, naming a team Barcelona have faced and beaten this season.
“Which club would be perfect? Bayern. Bayern would be perfect for Frenkie. It would be fantastic for them.”
Gullit then spoke on how it was difficult for him to see De Jong waste his prime years on the bench, especially with Hansi Flick preferring other options ahead of him.
“I would like De Jong to play football again. He should not sit on the bench. He is 27 years old and in his best years. This situation must change now.”
Finally, the former footballer spoke on the constant noise around De Jong’s future and how it was not a healthy sign.
“There is a lot of noise. That is something normal in the world of soccer to talk about offers and more with a player who has no minutes.”
“I think the Saudi clubs should also probe his incorporation because he is a great player,” he concluded.
