The women’s football group stage concluded at Tokyo 2020 on Tuesday.
Here’s what happened …
Scorers: Leon 55′; Weir 85′
Team GB finished top of Group E after Caroline Weir rescued a point with a late equaliser against Canada.
Canada took the lead 10 minutes into the second half, when Adriana Leon found the top corner with a left-footed strike.
But five minutes from time, Caroline Weir equalised for the Brits with a deflected effort from outside the area.
The draw was enough for Canada to finish second.
Scorers: Tanaka 77′
Japan got their first win of the Games when they narrowly beat Chile.
The hosts finally took the lead late in the game, when Mina Tanaka fired past Christiane Endler.
That result means Japan finish as one of the two best third-placed teams and they head through to the quarter-final.
Scorers: Van de Sanden 12′, Beerensteyn 37′, 45+2′, Martens 47′, 70′, Miedema 65′, 76′, Pelova 71′; Shanshan 28′, Yanwen 69′
The Netherlands took their scoring to 22 goals in three matches with a stunning victory over China.
Shanice van de Sanden gave them the lead when she found the bottom corner at the end of a rapid counter-attack.
China then equalised when Wang Shanshan drilled a left-footed effort low past the goalkeeper.
The Dutch went back in front through Lineth Beerensteyn eight minutes before half-time, before she grabbed her second in quick succession to make it 3-1 in first half stoppage time.
Lieke Martens then got in on the act to make it 4-1 early in the second half, before Vivianne Miedema came off the bench to make it five.
Wang Yanwen then pulled another goal back for China, only for Martens to grab her second of the game and Victoria Pelova to score to make it 7-2.
Not content with just the one goal, Miedema then bagged another for 8-2.
That result means the Dutch top Group F on goal difference, while China finished bottom.
Scorers: Alves 19′
A solitary goal was enough for Brazil to beat Zambia and advance to the quarter-finals.
Zambia were reduced to 10 players when Lushomo Mweeba’s yellow card was upgraded to a red by VAR in the 14th minute.
Brazil then took the lead when Andressa Alves found the bottom corner with a super free-kick.
That result leaves Brazil second in Group F, and Olympic debutants Zambia sadly head home.
The United States Women’s National Team finished second in Group G after they were held to a goalless stalemate by Australia.
Alex Morgan thought she’d opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, only for the goal to be disallowed by VAR for offside.
This result means Australia finished third in the group and join Japan in the next round as one of the two best third placed teams.
Scorers: Anvegård 17′, Janogy 29′
In the other game in Group G, table-toppers Sweden made it three wins from three when they took on New Zealand.
The Swedes took an early lead when Anna Anvegård headed home Olivia Schough’s cross after 17 minutes.
It was soon 2-0 thanks to another headed goal, this time from Madelen Janogy.
