Paulo Dybala was managed throughout the summer but returned well from his serious thigh injury, making his presence felt in his first two cameos. It won’t be long before he resumes being a starter, likely alongside Matias Soulé behind the striker, even though they are both left-footed, Corriere dello Sport informs.
La Joya had a much more serene window than the previous ones despite his contractual situation. His deal expires at the end of the season. There are no more options to automatically renew it, which happened last year. The saga involving Al-Qadsiah burned the bridge toward Saudi Arabia. Teams from other potential landing spots didn’t even try, as he didn’t consider leaving.
Dybala hit it off with Gian Piero Gasperini and feels central in the new Roma project. He’s a big asset for the club outside the pitch too, as he’s attractive to the sponsors. He’s eager to earn a renewal on the pitch, although it won’t be easy to make the numbers work.
The Argentinian attacker is by far the highest-paid player in the Giallorossi squad. Thanks to a peculiar contract, where his base salary compounded with the bonuses he earned over the years, he’ll make €8M this season, Sky informs.
The front office shake-up contributed to easing the tension and, despite his quality, only a small number of sides are in a position to even consider taking a shot at trying to sign him. It’s hardly worth a try, as his attachment to the team always prevailed. The extension talks will be tricky because his current numbers aren’t really sustainable. He might have to give up something to stay, and chances are he will.
