Sean Dyche reveals that James McAtee was subbed off at half-time for tactical reasons in their win over FC Utrecht.
The former Manchester City midfielder started the match but was brought off at the break with his side level in the Europa League.
An 88th-minute strike from Igor Jesus made sure that Nottingham Forest earned a 2-1 win over FC Utrecht after Mike van de Hoorn had cancelled out Arnaud Kalimuendo’s opener for Dyche’s side.
Dyche was asked why McAtee was brought off: “Just tactical reasons,” he explained to TNT Sports. “You know, to make it slightly different.
“Zinny’s done ever so well. You know, vast a lot of him Dominguez has been terrific. I think he was excellent tonight.
“There’s a lot of good signs, these lads are getting to proper fitness, if you like and that’s important as a squad, because we’ve got a lot of games coming over this period.”
Before Dyche came in, Forest were winless in Europe, but since then, they have won two out of four in the competition. He was very pleased with his side’s performance.
“Very pleased with the players overall,” he said.” We made a lot of changes.
“I spoke to the players about the squad mentality, and I think you could see it was clear and I thought with the performance level overall. Especially as we should have scored in the early part of the game.
“I thought we were very dominant, and they came back into it, so credit to them, but overall, I think the result was valid for our performance.”
