Sean Dyche faced the media for the first time as Nottingham Forest manager ahead of Thursday's visit of FC Porto.
"I'm pleased to be here today as Nottingham Forest football manager and be here today," the former Burnley and Everton boss said.
"I've got a long history with the club from being an apprentice at the club from 87-90 as a young pro. In those days, all you want to do is play in the first team.
"You're walking down by the river and the voice of Brian Clough is in earshot and all the legends that played at that time. There were some top players. You're just thinking you want to put the shirt on so to round the circle and be here as manager is something quite big for me.
"I take pride in that. So do my staff, we all have history with the club. I take great pride in being announced as Nottingham Forest manager."
Considering that Dyche is Forest's third permanent manager of the season with just two months paid, questions inevitably asked about whether he have job security.
"The way football has changed when changes are made quicker, I think that is just the nature of what we're all in and we all understand it.
"I'm not here to question the former manager or the decision. I'm here to move forward with the football club.
"I respect all managers whether it's Ange [Postecoglou], Nuno [Espírito Santo] or Coops [Steve Cooper], who had a big part in starting this journey.
"It's not about one situation that didn't go well, what about those that did? I just want to play my part in the rich history of a football club like this."
Indeed, the priority right now for Dyche is to get Forest's season back on track with the side currently in the relegation zone after managing to clinch European football last season.
"We need to get back to winnings ways.
"I won't bore people with the stats but they weren't winning at the end of last season particularly. Maybe run out of steam, it was a big season.
"It hasn't been a great start to this season, we understand that so there were a few signs about what was needed and the changes.
"But I think there is a very good group here, a talented group. Last season they showed the will and desire to be a good group – now we've got to reignite that and make sure it's intact gong forward."
The Dyche era will begin against the in-form Portuguese league leaders Porto, who have won 10 and drawn one in their opening 11 games this season.
