Nottingham Forest are in advanced negotiations to name Sean Dyche as their new manager.
Dyche has emerged as the leading candidate to take over at the City Ground following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, with the club aiming to finalise an agreement by Monday.
Postecoglou was relieved of his duties just 17 minutes after Forest’s 3-0 Premier League loss to Chelsea on Saturday. The team currently sit 18th in the table, having recorded only one victory in eight league outings during a turbulent campaign.
Dyche has held encouraging discussions over the past day, and BBC Sport understands his prospects of landing the role have risen sharply across the weekend.
Former Italy and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has also been in contact with Forest’s hierarchy, while Fulham manager Marco Silva is admired but remains tied to a long-term contract.
A substantial release clause in Silva’s deal is believed to be a stumbling block, particularly as Forest have already paid compensation for parting ways with both Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this season.
There are also doubts over whether Silva would consider leaving Fulham mid-campaign.
Current indications suggest Dyche is the clear front-runner, with Forest cooling their interest in Mancini due to the complexities surrounding alternative options.
