Eagle Football Group, owner of Olympique Lyonnais, said in a statement it has lodged a complaint against X with the Lyon public prosecutor. It follows an internal audit of the club’s operations between May 2023 and June 2025 under John Textor, and cites suspected misuse of corporate assets, inaccurate accounts and misleading market information.
The American businessman is not named in the statement. The complaint was filed on Monday.
The audit highlighted financial flows worth several hundred million euros that appeared to lack economic justification, set against severe cash constraints and delays in paying social charges.
Conducted by an external law firm, the report concluded there was deliberate disorganisation of company activities and systematic opacity in financial management.
The club’s financial crisis led the DNCG to relegate OL to Ligue 2 at first instance on 24 June 2025. Lyon were later reinstated on appeal after Textor departed, with Michele Kang taking over on 30 June. They finished fourth in last season’s Ligue 1.
