FC Bayern and Jamal Musiala are currently working together to find a solution for his medical condition. Most recently, the offensive player collapsed twice on the field.

Following the second incident, Musiala himself announced that he suffers from “absences,” a form of epilepsy that is apparently easily treatable. The player wants to return to the field as soon as possible, and it appears that could happen quickly.

The current focus is on adjusting his medication so that he experiences no significant side effects while also ensuring the seizures no longer occur.

Eberl talks about Musiala

Of course, Musiala’s situation was also a topic of discussion surrounding the Super Cup in Dortmund. Max Eberl, FC Bayern’s sporting director, provided another update on the star forward in an interview with Sky.

“This is about health; this is about a person. Jamal has this illness, and now the public knows about it. It’s become part of everyday life. The first signs appeared quite some time ago. He had a good period with the condition, but had to take medication, and of course everyone wants to take as little medication as possible. That’s why we tried this approach, and now we have to see how we can adjust it,” Eberl said in general terms.

Eberl also expressed a certain optimism regarding the playmaker’s return to his former strength.

“Jamal has always said so. He wants to be on the field; he enjoys it; he wants to play soccer. We’ve always given him that opportunity, all in consultation with the doctors. The field was his sanctuary; he wants to perform, and we’ll get back to that—I’m sure of it,” said Eberl.

Exactly when Musiala will be able to play again will likely be decided on a day-to-day basis in the near future. As soon as there are positive signs, there’s no reason not to bring him back into the roster.
