Max Eberl says Bayern explored a deal for Bradley Barcola after his arrival at the Säbener Strasse, having previously tried to take the winger to RB Leipzig before his transfer to Liverpool.

“To be honest, I already knew Bradley from my time in Leipzig. I wanted to bring him to RB. We sat down together at the time and discussed it. So I already had a closer relationship with Bradley. There had always been interest. Of course, we also looked at Bradley at Bayern. But when you hear those kinds of figures, it was simply too much for us.” He was speaking to Sport Bild.

Bayern had been linked with Barcola while he was at Paris Saint-Germain, but the move did not happen. The 24-year-old instead joined Liverpool in the summer for a reported €125 million.

Bayern then focused elsewhere, paying a reported €70 million to sign Luis Díaz from Liverpool in the summer of 2025.

“With Luis Díaz, we made a decision that was also costly, but on a different scale to Bradley. Díaz is also a player who brings people into the stadium. We are extremely happy with him.”
