Ecuador have announced their 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they look to build on an impressive run of form under head coach Sebastián Beccacece.
Since taking charge in 2024, the Argentine has overseen a remarkable turnaround, with Ecuador suffering just one defeat in their last 18 matches. That momentum has raised expectations ahead of the tournament in North America.
The squad features several familiar names from European football, including Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo, Arsenal defender Piero Hincapié and Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Willian Pacho. Together, they form the backbone of a side that has earned a reputation for being one of the toughest teams to break down in South America.
Veteran striker Enner Valencia will captain the team at his third World Cup. The 36-year-old remains Ecuador's all-time leading scorer and will once again carry much of the attacking responsibility. Sunderland forward Nilson Angulo has also been included and is set for his first appearance at the tournament, while highly-rated teenager Kendry Páez continues his rapid rise after earning another call-up.
Ecuador have been drawn in Group E, where they will face Ivory Coast, Curaçao and Germany. Having reached the last 16 in 2006, La Tri will be hoping this talented generation can equal or even surpass the country's best-ever World Cup performance.
