Ecuador and Germany face off in their final Group E match on Thursday at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

Germany have already secured top spot after winning both of their games, while Ecuador head into this fixture still searching for their first goal of the tournament and needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Ecuador come into this game under real pressure after a disappointing start. They are yet to register a victory or even score in the competition so far. Their campaign began with a narrow 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast, followed by a frustrating goalless draw against Curaçao, where they failed to convert any of their twenty-seven attempts on goal. Their struggles in front of goal have left them in a must-win situation heading into this final group match.

Ecuador team news

Ecuador have no injury concerns or suspensions, meaning head coach Sebastián Beccacece has a full squad available to choose from.

With their tournament hopes on the line, Ecuador must improve their attacking output after drawing blanks in both of their previous matches.

Experienced striker Enner Valencia is expected to once again lead the line alongside Gonzalo Plata, with the team likely lining up in either a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 system.

Much of the responsibility will fall on Ecuador’s key players, including midfielder Moisés Caicedo and defenders Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho, who form the backbone of the team.

Beccacece is likely to select his strongest possible lineup, relying on his core group to stay solid defensively while pushing forward in search of the goals required to advance to the knockout stage.

Ecuador predicted lineup

Possible Ecuador starting XI: Galindez; Ordonez, Pacho, Hincapie; Yeboah, Franco, Caicedo, Vite, Estupinan; Plata, Valencia

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 9pm BST on Thursday, 25th June.
