Eddie Howe giving these key updates.
“The very best performance will be needed, we now the qualities of their team.
“These are difficult games for us, returning from a Champion League game.
“It is a mental challenge and we must rise to that challenge.”
Eddie Howe on Tuesday’s win over Benfica:
“It was a welcome performance and result.
“Was important for us and puts us in a good position in the Champions League and it gives us a good feeling going into Saturday.”
Eddie Howe’s team-news:
“I think everyone came through the game okay.
“Sandro is still the player we are monitoring; he did train but wasn’t feeling one hundred per cent, he will be touch and go.”
Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall:
“Tino is back on the grass for the first time today, so happy for him.
Lewis is the same, on the grass and doing well, so hopefully he is not too far away.”
Eddie Howe on Bruno Guimaraes:
“His biggest strength is his consistency.
“His attitude, he is a very positive person, that positivity that he brings carries through all aspects of his life.
“He has that reliability, you can call on him consistently, that you can perform again and again.
“He’s always there to deliver not just week on week but month and then season after season – so full compliments to him.”
Eddie Howe on Sandro Tonali contract, after it was revealed this week that the midfielder had agreed an extension when suspended last season, his contact reported to take him up to end of June 2029, with the club having an extra year that they can trigger, taking him up to end of June 2030:
“The extension is a great thing but the most important thing was how he conducted himself during that period.
“Sandro is very happy.
“A lot happened around the time he was banned, a lot of discussions were had.
“Sandro has felt the love with everyone connected with the football club.
“He felt that love and support and needed it at the time.
“He has been brilliant for us.
“Sandro is happy, he is enjoying his football, he is integral to the team.”
Eddie Howe on Nick Woltemade:
“That was his best physical performance (so far) against Benfica.
“I thought his pressing from the front, his attitude to press, his durability, his robustness. Yes, excellent.
“The challenge for him, in this moment, is that he has to do that every three or four days…and that is not easy, physically and mentally.
“So, a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, but he is carrying that really well.
“I see a player and a person coming into the training ground, that is more at home in his environment now.
“I think a lot more relaxed, you are seeing his natural personality come out and it’s all positive.
“So yes, very pleased with him.”
