Eddie Howe says Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock are likely to be fully fit for Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James’ Park, but Lewis Miley will miss out.

According to Sunderland Echo, Miley has been out since late January after a dead leg caused some muscle damage. He had targeted Wednesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg at Barcelona for his return, but he did not travel.

Tonali and Willock have travelled and could be involved at Spotify Camp Nou. Willock came off in the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Chelsea with a knock.

Howe said they would assess Tonali in training that day, the first time he had been with the group, before deciding on tomorrow. Willock will also be checked in training, with hopes he will be fine. He added that Miley trained at home and is likely to be out until after the international break.

Ahead of the two fixtures, Howe said confidence is as high as it has been all season. He described himself as the happiest he has been and hopes his side are peaking at the right time.
