Eddie Howe ‘set to leave’ Newcastle after almost five years in charge

Sunderland Echo reports that Eddie Howe is set to leave Newcastle United after almost five years in charge.

Howe, 48, delivered the club’s first major silverware in 70 years by winning the Carabao Cup in 2025, and he twice qualified the team for the Champions League after taking over in November 2021.

Last season was a disappointment, with Newcastle finishing 12th in the Premier League.

The summer has been difficult, with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali departing, while speculation continues over the future of captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Howe was in charge for a 4-1 pre-season friendly defeat at Bristol City on Wednesday night.
