Eddie Howe is set to leave Newcastle United after almost five years in charge, according to Sunderland Echo.

Howe, 48, delivered the 2025 Carabao Cup, the club’s first major trophy in 70 years, and twice qualified for the Champions League after arriving in November 2021.

Newcastle endured a disappointing campaign last term, finishing 12th in the Premier League.

This summer has also been testing, with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali departing, while the future of captain Bruno Guimaraes remains the subject of speculation.

Howe was on the touchline for Wednesday night’s 4-1 pre-season defeat at Bristol City.
