Fenerbahçe are set to go another year without the Super Lig in Türkiye after losing to Galatasaray, a match overshadowed by former Benfica goalkeeper Ederson’s dismissal.

According to Glorioso 1904, with only three rounds remaining and a campaign that began under José Mourinho, the Istanbul club suffered another blow following a recent Turkish Cup exit at the hands of an ex-Benfica player.

The flashpoint began in the first half when the Brazil international was booked for pressing his head against the referee’s forehead.

It escalated after the interval as a penalty was awarded to the three-time national champions. Ederson delayed its taking and failed to retreat to his goal line when ordered, drawing a second yellow and a red.

He initially refused to leave and demanded an explanation. While being escorted off, he damaged the VAR booth, an act that could bring a heavy suspension.
