According to Sportitalia, Manchester United could yet land Atalanta midfielder Ederson, as Atletico Madrid remain short of the fee the Italians want.

The Brazilian is widely expected to leave Bergamo at the end of the season, with his contract running to June 2027 and no extension in place.

Atletico Madrid and United are the leading suitors. Personal terms with Atleti were agreed weeks ago, and they are understood to be his preferred option.

Even so, the Spanish club’s proposal stands at €30m plus bonuses, which falls well below Atalanta’s valuation.

United would need to match those personal terms and raise their bid to €40m to change the picture, so the outcome remains open.
